Empowering Creative Expression for Children

The Beginning

Creative at HeART CIC was founded in November 2025 with a clear and compassionate purpose - to bring light, creativity, joy and hope to children experiencing challenging times in their young lives. Born from the belief that creativity has the power to heal and inspire, the organisation helps children rediscover joy, confidence, and self-expression when life feels overwhelming.

The idea was shaped by our Founder and CEO, Dean Ashworth, who, after more than two decades in corporate, senior commercial leadership, sought to dedicate his skills and experience to something that made a genuine difference. Guided by a deep commitment to community wellbeing, Dean established Creative at HeART as a not-for-profit social enterprise focused entirely on uplifting others through creativity and compassion.

What We Do

We work closely with children’s hospitals, schools, charities and community organisations to deliver uplifting creative sessions that give children a chance to express themselves freely and enjoyably. Guided and overseen at every step by the expertise of each organisations own healthcare teams, therapists, social care and wellbeing professionals - those who understand each child best. We bring the energy and fun, together with continuously adapting our activities so they feel welcoming, accessible and appropriate for every child who joins in.

Each piece tells a story of hope and pride. For many children, the process offers a momentary escape from whatever challenges they may be navigating; for families, parents and carers, it creates shared memories filled with joy and encouragement.

But our work isn’t really about the printing or products. It’s about moments, a smile after a long day, a proud “I made this!” from a child, a tearful grin from a parent watching their little one light up with joy. These small but powerful moments of connection remind families that even during difficult times, there is still beauty, laughter, and creativity to be found.

Beyond the creative outputs, our work is about fostering connection, between children, families, and the wider community, and demonstrating the proven benefits of creativity for emotional wellbeing and recovery.

Creative at HeART exists to create positive impact through creative engagement. Our mission is to ensure that every child we reach experiences the transformational power of art, finding joy, self-worth, pride, and a renewed sense of hope, even in the face of adversity.

By turning creativity into a tool for healing and empowerment, we help children and their support networks see that even the smallest spark of joy can make the biggest difference.
